"There's a first time for everything."
"You can be who you want to be."

So I was a mail carrier last Sunday and it was sure an exciting experience! I managed to trick all three of my darling girls to believe that I was expecting a delivery but won't be home to receive it, hence needing their 'help'. After packing the parcels, I went to do my sneaky home deliveries by leaving the parcels at their doorsteps, then telling them that the delivery man left 'it' outside one of their homes after not getting any responses. It was really funny seeing them get all confused when they checked and realised they all had the same parcels. It was a good day! I even bumped into this grumpy cat —

I would so do this again (and again, and...)!

a postcard project ・ may 2014

a postcard project is a personal project I've taken up in an attempt to write more regularly to J, through photo postcards of photos I've taken

"You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one. Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own." — Paulo Coelho

I chanced upon this quote when I was surfing the net some time ago, and immediately thought of using it for May's postcard. It's really meaningful as it very much aligns with what I hope I can achieve, that is, to be and stay positive by paying attention to the dear little details of life. To admit, I complain quite a fair bit, but at the same time, I do appreciate the way things are now, because I clearly know it could have been worse. Though I don't have always great exciting things happening in my life, I could see the little wonders in the everyday peace and routine, if I try to. Similarly, if you look closely at the carefully lined chairs in the photo postcard, you would be amazed to see just how different they are.

a postcard project ・ march & april 2014

a postcard project is a personal project I've taken up in an attempt to write more regularly to J, through photo postcards of photos I've taken

March and April just went by as I busied on and I finally got down to writing these postcards today, though I had them printed quite a while back. I prefer not rushing through this monthly project, so as to give myself time to think with clarity and express myself with precision.

So the past two months have been pleasant and the most memorable of all, would definitely be J and my first trip to the Gardens by the Bay. Thus I chose the photos from the trip. To match the theme, I quoted Max Müller and Vanna Bonta —

'A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love.'
'There is only now and look! How rich we are in it.'

Indeed, I believe that love (be it affection, friendship, or romance), nurtures us and enriches our lives. Similarly, if we can look beyond our worries and anxieties to focus on the 'now', we may find ourselves savouring each moment more than ever. This, is something I am still learning, and I hope to share it with J.
